Old hats hung randomly on nails

Lectern, lights, microphone, amplifier

Tested, ready to be used.

Chairs lined up, row behind row

Filled with people

Male and female, short and tall,

Heavy and thin, old and young.

A sea of faces, mostly white, mostly comfortable,

Eccentric, vivid, confident and afraid.

One connection, only one

The need, the desire, the compulsion that drives them.
